Nicole Kern - Assistant Director
Hello! My name is Nicole Kern. I am the Assistant Director of the daycare (The Eagles Nest), opening in the elementary school.
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. I graduated from a vigorous hospital nursing school program in 2008. I externed in the operating room, worked on various floors of the hospital, and then moved on to being a Med Tech at a nursing home. I quickly decided that nursing was not for me, and moved on to help my now husband, Kevin, work his farming business.
Kevin and I got married in 2011, and continued to grow our family business. I worked at a dairy farm in our off seasons, until we had our first child, Wyatt, at the end of 2012. In October 2014, I decided to work at the daycare center he attended. I quickly fell in love with the children and found a passion for supporting their learning and development. I ended up working there until the day we moved to Kansas at the end of 2021.
We continued to grow our family farming business into a well known poultry farm in the area. In between farming and daycare, I baby-sat, nannied, and worked for an elderly care business. We also had two more children; Everly in 2016 and Holden in 2019. After the COVID pandemic, farming was getting tougher, and inflation was killing our efforts, so we decided to pack up, and try something new. This brought us to Kingman at the end of November in 2021.
My family and I have enjoyed exploring different areas of Kansas so far. I started working at the Elementary School as a Paraeducator this school year. I now work as the Daycare Assistant Director full time. When I am not working, you can find my nose in a good book. I like to help with the book club at the library in town. I also like to run/walk, and work out with friends. I have run a few half marathons and many other races. I also enjoy a good cup of coffee, especially from the Brick Road Coffee shop.
I am so excited for this opportunity to collaborate with the daycare community, expand my child development education, and help educate the young minds of Kingman.
